How is this inspired by Nan Goldin?

Nan Goldin takes pictures of the transgender community, so these pictures are inspired by that part of Nan Goldin’s photography. I thought of the idea to wear a suit and pose as if I was a man. I had help from my brother. He showed me the different positions and I picked the best ones which were these three. Also, I wanted to portray the theme of sexuality and how some woman believe that there are men. In addition, the females who just like to wear more comfortable male dominate clothing. I like these photographs because I look great in them, along with my satisfaction in that the pictures portray what they are meant to portray, which is sexuality. Also, I feel that adding the greyscale filter makes me look more mysterious as well as manlier.

These photos are inspired by Nan Goldin because, they show love and homosexuality. I was trying to show that we are a lesbian couple and that we love each other in an intimate way. My best friend Ellie helped me with these photos by suggesting poses as well as being comfortable enough to take the photos with me. I feel that these pictures tell a story. Furthermore, I am happy with it because it captured what I wanted to capture, which is love. I like the look of the first picture even though it is blurry, I think that it is nice and soft in comparison to the other one. the lighting and colour is soft, which makes the picture look better. I like the second picture because it is hard and soft at the same time. The lighting is harsh but the pose and how we are positioned in frame is soft.

These photographs show the sisterly love I have for my best friend Ellie, Nan Goldin’s portrays love in her photography so that is what I did. Furthermore, it really shows our friendship and the bond we have. I have known Ellie for years, so we have chemistry in that way rather than an intimate one. Plus, some of Nan Goldin’s involve her and her friends which I liked. I like these pictures because we are both centre frame, so that people know that it is both of us they need to pay attention to. Also, I like the pose we did in the first photo, because I think that we look cool and I adore the second picture because we both look happy. It captures the moment nicely, even if we were just looking at her phone. I feel that it shows the spontaneity of the picture. Looking back at the first picture, I feel that it captures the moment as well. The lighting is quite strong but, that’s what makes it stand out and I like it.

Nan Goldin takes photographs of her friends because, I feel that they are her inspiration. I like the first photograph because, it looks cinematic and I think that everything within frame looks good. On top of that, the outfit that she had chosen suits her very well making the picture look better. Along with the makeup that I had applied, it enhances her features even more. Nan Goldin takes pictures of her friends because they are a reflection of herself and I feel that the friends I have are a reflection of me. I think that Ellie has traits that I have and traits I don’t have but I like. I am pleased with the second picture, this is because she glows, this makes her skin look smooth and stand out. Also, I like the pose that she did and the hat compliments the look,. Plus, the lighting is just right.

I really like these pictures on the grounds that, they are interesting. I think that it has that classic and sophisticated feel to them, I really like the greyscale filter. The lighting in both of them is really good and I like how Ellie takes up most of the frame. I really like the second picture because, it is simplistic which is engaging along with the pose, it looks like she is thinking which makes you ponder. I like the first picture because, the background looks kind of vintage with all of her videotape. Furthermore, I like how Ellie’s body from head to toe is in frame and I think that the way the camera is angled adds dimension. I think I did a good job taking these pictures and I think I did a good job interpreting the photographer.

How is this inspired by Nan Goldin?

These photos are inspired by Nan Goldin due to each picture portraying love. However, instead of being intimate with another or something similar to that it portrays self love. I like these pictures because, I am being myself and it shows you who I really am. Also, I think that is what Nan Goldin presents in most of the photographs that she takes. What’s more is that, I really adore the softness of the image, my skin looks clear, the picture has well lit lighting and the way I angled the camera looks delightful. Also, not all of me is showing so it looks mysterious. In addition to that, it’s self portrait so every time I look at them, I can self reflective and gives other people a glimpse of what I am about.

How is this inspired by Nan Goldin?

When capturing these images, I was thinking about self love (the love within thy self) like the previous photos. Theses are based around Nan Goldin’s theme of Love and Everyday Life. Some people do not love themselves, so instead of having love for themselves they feel self hatred, which is not a good trait to possess. So, that is how I interpreted my chosen photographer. Furthermore, the lighting in these pictures are really good, there are well lit photographs. Also, Nan Goldin had used mirrors in her artwork which influenced me, I really like these self portrait photographs. Lastly, I like how they contrast each other, for instance, in the picture on the right I am smiling. However, on the left my face is more serious.

Most of these are based around the following: Love, Sexuality, Gender and Everyday Life.
