Evaluation

This project was very interesting because it makes you think about life as a single mother (a single parent) and what they have to go through and what they have been through. Also, how single mothers are portrayed in the media etc. We had got put into groups of 3, it was Karim, Jeremy and I.

One of the positives that came out of this project was getting to know a bit more about people’s back stories about being a mother and what comes with it such as the ups and downs of being a single parent.

Another positive was having connections because if I didn’t there would be no documentary to be shown and that is all down to my mother because she knows a good amount of people who are single parents and would be willing to tells their story which is what I liked.

Unfortunately, they were some negatives for example, when it came to interviewing Sandra, the background was near enough the same as her skin tone. There was I could have done about that because there were no other places to do the interview, however, once Sandra had started to talk it did not really matter. I have taken this lesson into consideration and in the future I will handle it differently.

Also, the noise and interruptions of her daughter. I like her daughter a lot it was just disappointing that her daughter kept making a lot of noise and coming in every few minutes, which is understandable because she is only a child and she wants her mother but it has not good for the sound because you could hear her, which may distract people if they were watching.

What I have learned is that I should have interviewed Sandra at my house or when her daughter was not in. On the other hand, I did have to film in the holidays so it would have been difficult to schedule.

Overall, I think that our final product came out really good however, we had to shorten some the questions because the answers were quite long as well as Karim and I doing the work and Jeremy doing nothing.
