How to do green screen keying using Adobe Premiere Pro

The first step in create this green screen keying composition(effect) is to open up the Adobe Premiere Pro software. Using the shortcut located at the bottom of the screen or using the search engine (the finder).

Then when new project you need to name it Green Screen or Green Screen Keying and then next to that add the date that is present, which in this case it was the …, After that, click browse (linked to location) and choose or create a folder to put this project in to, then click OK.

The next step is to import the Green Screen footage. This is done in two way the first way is for you go to File, scroll down to Import and then click file, the second way is by going to the bottom left corner and clicking media browser, click the desktop and find your video. Once you’ve done that you have to double on the video and it should come up in the source window located near the top left of the screen.

After that, you need to pick where you want the video to start and end. So, you press the space bar (or click the play button) , then the press the space bar again (or the pause button) and press ‘I’ on the keyboard to pick the start of the video. Same goes for the end of the video but you press ‘O’. On the other you can play the video in the source window, then press the space bar and the press ‘I’ and after press ‘O’ to choose when the video starts and ends.

After you have figured out where you want the video to start and finish you need to click the video shown in the source window and drag it on to the timeline located (near the bottom of the screen).

The next step is to remove the greem making it black, this is done by going to Effects, scrolling down to Keying and click Ultra key or you can type in Ultra key into the serach engine. Then drag the effect onto the footage, once youve dragged the effect go to the .. tool and click the green closest to the subjects body to get a more accurate key (green).

It should now look like this. From there you then need to go back to Effects and scroll down to Sixteen-Point Garbage Matte or type in sixteen into the search engine, After that, drag the Effect on the footage.When you have dragged

Then what you need to do is to move your video (footage) up so that there is a space to put your image. To do this all you need to is click the video and drag it up to v2. if you don’t have v2 on your timeline, you have to right click on to timeline where it has v1, and then click new track.

The next step is to go to File, Import and click File to get your picture or you can go to the bottom left corner and click media browser To get the picture you are going to use for the background, which is a stage in this tutorial. if you are getting the image from the media browser then you need to drag it to the empty video space on the timeline.

Once you have done that you need to position your subject in the centre or wherever you desire you need to render it, this is shown in the next step.

Once you have finished the whole process you need to render or export your composition (video). To do that you could either go to File, scroll down to Export and click Media or you could go to sequence and scroll down to render in and out. However, i recommend that you go to File. When that is done, you need to set your desired setting so that is 1080p or 720p depending on what you want.
