Evaluation On Chinatown Promo

The Chinatown Project was a very educational experience. A company came in to give us a brief that we had to follow.

One of the positive aspects of the project is that our promotional video got 3rd place in the competition. I felt that the footage that was used was amazing, great shots done by Jacob and Kristyana. Also, I felt that the majority of the group (Kristyána, Jacob and I) were motivated and wanted to get the video done to the best of our ability. The three of us were very committed to the project, which was great. The other two were committed at the beginning, then slowly cared less and had other things to do. I wasn’t worried or anything because of previous experiences were that has happen. When got it done and it is phenomenal, no complaints.

The concept was Jacob’s idea and it was an superb idea because, it was funny and it takes the audience on a journey of Chinatown rather than music and a selection of shots, I felt it was more creative.

My job throughout the project I felt was organisation, this is because I was the one who connected with the year ones tell them when to come, seeing if they got to Leicester Square yet, making the group chat on Google Hangouts, writing up things that we needed to do.Also, I think that the project was a good bonding, networking experience becuase, we had to tell the first year what the project was about. We really got to know each other as we working and talked on Google Hangout. Furthermore, I learnt a bit more about working as a unit, a team, which as nice as well as reassuring of those skills. The most challenging thing I had to do was act, this is because I am not an actor so, I would laugh at lot. However, it turned out pretty good, which I am proud of.

I thought that the Chinatown project was a fun experience as well. There were those funny moments where were couldn’t stop laughing but, we still had our serious and focused moments. There was a good balance of work and play. In the final product, me and Jacob are on a Ferris Wheel, I was that it was there and we filmed on because, I thought that was a good shot. Plus, no one else had it, which made ours more unique and we had fun on it (me, Kristyána and Jacob).

The screening was a entertaining and interesting experience. We got to see each of our promotional videos on the big screen along with watching the judges look at it. The environment was different in a good way. The only two negatives about this project was that the minority of the group weren’t as committed and there were a few malfunctions when Jacob was editing and exporting the final product. I am glad the problem was resolved.

This whole project was inspirational and has reassured me a little about where your any project you do will get you, whether it’s a short film or promotional video in this case.
