Strengths & How each of them will help me in the future:
- Editing.
I think that it is one of my strength because, I love to sit down and mould the footage into someone who is creative and enjoyable. My strength in editing will help me in the future because, I would not have to hire an editor I can easily do it myself. Also, people would come to me and ask me to edit their footage together, which I would happily do for them.
- Sound/Sound Operating.
After doing a few projects last year, I feel that one of my strengths is sound and sound operating. For instance, holding the boom pole to capture dialogue along with making music for project that will enhance the intensity or mood of the project more. This will future me in the future because, sound is important in film making so, it’s good to have clear sound for post-production.
- Camerawork.
Camerawork is another one of my strengths because again like I said editing. I love doing it so much. I have love for camerawork that I don’t mind doing it at any time for anyone because, I learn more when record someone or people. Plus, camera operators get a lot of money to shoot movies, music videos, do photo-shoots, record behind the scenes and much more. So, there’s a lot in camerawork that you can achieve.
- Making Music.
I love making music. Ever since I was young. so, I have learnt to use logic pro 9, I have played and learnt guitar (self-taught and lessons) and I used to play piano in primary. So, think that those experience have benefited me. This strength will help me in future because, I can make my music for my films or direct someone to what I want in case I want a more in depth sound and someone is more experienced. In addition to that, I can learn new things as I go.
- Location Scouting.
This strength was developed in the first year; location scouting. Location scouting will be beneficial in the future, this because you have found the right location to shoot projects and if you are good at location scouting then it will be easy to do. You know what places are accessible to film in and area that are not and what area can embellish a scene.
- Hard-Working.
I’m very hard-working when I put my mind to something. I think that is strength will assist me in the future because, I will be able to get a large amount of work complete to the best of my ability. Also, it connects to being reliable because people will see your hard-working and want to work with you. Why do 1 thing a day when you can do 10; it’s really good trait to acquire.
- Reliable.
This strength is really important in anything you do whether it’s filming or scheduling, I think it is an important strength to have. It defiantly will help in the future because you always need to be dedicated, someone people can count on, so you can get a lot of things done. Also, people if you reliable, people are willing to work with you because, you aren’t lazy and laying down on the job, you are active.
- Good Listener.
I consider myself a good listener. This is help in the future because, you are able to take in information from other people, connect with people who you have met for the first time and remember that information later on.
- Open Minded
I am open minded to new or alternative ideas. This strength will help me because, I’m open to suggestion whereas others want their idea to remain the same. Even if it needs work. I like receiving constructive criticism because, it helps me improve, develop myself as a film maker and I like to learn new things.
- Scriptwriting.
I love script writing, coming up with stories and turning that story into visual content through writing is amazing. In the future, this is benefit to me because, writing is an important factor in the film industry. You write for adult and children, alternating between the two, you write for commercials, television shows etc. I think that I am quite good at scriptwriting.
Patience.
I think that in the film industry need patience. Patience with people, patience with location, patience with cast and crew etc. Having patience will get me far because, there are some people who are not as determined as you are so, you must have patience. Additionally, when it comes to film making. Your films and skills aren’t going to be realise straight away otherwise, it would be too easy, however, as you build a foundation to the views start to come and the films will be better and good publicity. So, patience is important.
- Eager to learn new things.
This strength will help me when learning new cameras, techniques, roles in the film industry, learning more aspects about my craft. On top of that, experiences that you learn from so, you don’t make it again along with other people’s experiences that you may not want to come across or may not know how to deal with. Also, learning new things broadens your mind to new ideas that you not have thought of before. So, I am always eager to learn new things.
- Friendly.
Friendliness is a trait that I am grateful to have. This will help me in the future when I have to network with new people such as students, teachers, client, anyone that I’m new and unfamiliar with. No one likes someone who is rude and negative all the time.
Weaknesses & How it can be turned into a Strength:
- Assertiveness (not assertive enough).
I’m not assertive enough but I am learning to be more assertive by putting myself out there more.
Ambitions:
- I want to do everything in the film industry such as editing, camerawork etcetera.
- I want to do things that are involved in the music industry.
- Get an amazing grade (Distinction) at the end of the course.
- Find out what I want to do when I leave college at the end of the course.
- I want to be able to drive.
- I want to buy a Segway.
