Experiments and Techniques

Shots that I had experimented with

Close up shot of the phone

This is a close up shot of my character phone. The reason I did this experiment is because it is a shot I would like to use in my film. Furthermore, I needed to see how close I could get to the phone before it became blurry (not in focus) so that when it comes to actually filming no time is wasted.

Shot of character and phone

This is a mid shot/ close-up of my character and the phone test, The reason for this experiment is so that can see if it looks good as well as testing me pan/tracking abilities making sure that the tracking is smooth which is was.

Combined shot of the two

I like the way both of the experiments looked (experiments shown above) so I wanted to see how they would look if I put together and in  my opinion I think that it meshes well which is great. I am definitely going to use these combination of shots in my actually episode when I am filming and editing.

Title Sequence Shots

Zoom in 1

I am going to use a zoom for the title sequence of my episode so I need to practice beforehand as well as seeing if the zoom in looks good or not, because if it didn’t then I would have to think of something else.

Zoom in 2

This experiment is to make sure I know what I am doing and to make sure I don not want to change my mind and do something different. It has clarified to me that I do not want to change it because I really like it.

Title sequence draft

I really like the outcome of this experiment. I will be using techniques with my main character Tyler (Jerome) because it is interesting as well as engaging.

FeedBack:

I like the video. I thought that the zoom was a cool effect and to the have the person faded out and have the title ‘Tyler’ to fade in was cool. I didn’t expect it to be really short but as a whole it was pretty good. Well done Steph :). – Jazmin, 18

I am glad that Jazmin liked my title sequence draft and how it looks. The only negative thing she had said was that it was short which is okay because my TV pilot is only going to be 10 minutes so it has to be.

It’s good, the timing of each thing shown was great, I like it. – Matthew, 19

Matthew’s feedback is short but sweet. I agree with Matthew’s comment about the timing of each element being great.

The title is nice, the font and colours are good. Keeping it plain and simple, looks cool. – Reme, 17

Positive feedback is always amazing, I think that this piece of feedback is short but comforting because it clarifies to me that I should have it as my title sequence for my Final product (TV pilot).

Conclusion:

Each opinion given about my title sequence experiment was very reassuring because it tells me that I am on the path and I am doing well. Additionally, the different techniques that I had experiment have benefited me a lot because it has clarified a few things as well as preparing me for the actual thing.

Title Sequence Draft 2

The experiment shown above was done so I am certain that I know how to do this technique, which I do. This draft has proven the theory.

Title Sequence: The process

This video is the process of how I was done this technique, in case I forget. It is good to take extra precautions even though it is short, it is a very important part.
