Cloning (Green Screen)

Cloning

Adobe Premiere pro

Firstly, you have to open Adobe Premiere Pro, to do that you have yo click the little shortcut icon.

The next step is to double your green screen footage, by going down to the bottom left corner and clicking the media browser. you can search for your video by typing in the name on the search engine ( a rectangular box with a magnifying glass on the side of the box).

When you’ve done that the video should appear in the project window, click it there and a source window will show up. so what you need to is mark in Screen Shot 2014-10-21 at 12.56.46 and out Screen Shot 2014-10-21 at 12.56.58where you would like your video to start and end.

Once you’ve decided when you want the video to start and finish, you click the footage in the source window and drag it to the timeline. After that, you have to go to effects (located on the bottom left of the screen) and then scroll down to Keying, click it, then go to Ultra Key. Drag the Ultra Key effect to the video shown on the Timeline.

Go to the Effect Controls (at the top of the screen), to get rid of the green, what you do is you go to the Key Color and click the …. tool, then you have to click the colour of green nearest to the persons body, this will key out more green and its the best way to do your keying. When that process is done the screen should now be black (shown in the picture above).

After that, Go back to Effects and click on Sixteen-Point Garbage Matte, this effect is used to get rid of the parts like the grey and the background. So drag the effect to your footage on the timeline and then go to Effect Control.

A few dots will appear around the screen, make sure you drag them a close as possible to the person without cutting off their arms or feet (this is pointed out to the people who have the subject moving around a bit in their video. It should near enough look like the picture above.

When you have finished all the technical parts, it gets easier because all you need to do now is copy the footage 3 times, depending on how many clones you want, however in this case its 5. So you position the first 3 space out from each other (shown in the picture above).

To do that you could either go to motion and double click on the program screen and move it or go to motion in the Effect Controls and use position to move it left or right. In my opinion, position might be better it all depends on you.

To take it to another level I have added 2 behind the 3 clones.

To add the other 2 that were behind, you need to go to Effects and type in the search engine ‘3D’, the search will take to an effect called Basic 3D.

Click and drag that to copy footage at the top. Then use the distance to… effect, which will take your subject further back depending on how high the number is, i have put 87.0 When you’ve set up your subject you have to copy and paste it on the timeline.

After copy and pasting the footage you need to go to motion and adjust the position, however, the problem is when you play the video on the timeline because the arms were swinging in mine, the subjects that were behind are swinging their arms in front.

So, what you have to do is just move the footage around, taking the footage (of the subject at the back) from the top of the timeline to the bottom of the timeline (closer to the audio).

So that when you play the video the arms are swinging behind the people at the front, now it doesn’t look out of place.

Make sure you always save your work, after every change that you make. It prevents the loss of work, in case the computer or software.

When you have added the picture, it will appear small. so, what you need to do is double click on the picture that is shown on the timeline, then click motion.

You could either double click the image on the program window and enlarge it there or you can go to motion and use the scale by scrolling up or typing in a number, in case it was 174.0.

After rending the video you should upload it to YouTube and add it onto your blog.
