Lighter side – Dreams
After looking up dreams, happy dreams and good dreams. I found that dreams are very bright and colourful as well as soft and attractive to look at.
I really like the colours in the picture as it is very vibrant and bright. I could use this style (colour) in the happier side of my final idea, for example if I do any establishing shots.

I like this image because of the glow that is added to the frame. Also, I enjoy looking at the bokeh effect used in this picture, the effect compliments the glow of the image and it has a visual impact on the audience.

I like the clouds, they are very soft and fluffy, which gives the picture a dream-like feature. Also, I like how the butterflies make up the moon, and the glow of the butterflies are unique and interesting. I feel like the butterflies symbolises the feel free nature of this picture and the stars add that bit of sparkle. So, I think that this is a good representation of what a dream should look like.

I enjoy looking at this picture because the light contrasts the dark, also, I like the bokeh effect that is used in this composition and the colours displayed in this picture seem very engaging.

I really like this composition, especially the mixture of bright colours. Also, the way she is positioned and posed make her look elegant. This picture is very interesting and I think it exhibits dreams very well.
In my opinion, it conjures happiness in me, which means it is likely to conjure the same emotion in others. This composition creates a feel good atmosphere, which I could use in certain parts of my project during editing.

I enjoy looking at these two pictures because they are smiling and that’s what you do when you have a good dream, you smile. I can use this in my final idea, so that the smile emphasises the mood.

In this picture, I like the sky because it’s very bright and it is something that I would picture in my dreams. The sky is soft and warm, which shows that in dreams you can do anything, the sky is the limit which could influence my final project.
Darker side – Nightmare
Nightmares are very dark and gloomy.

Looking at his composition; I like how her hand is in her eye and the effect it gives. I feel that this picture is very dark (in a spiritual sense) and it is different. Visually; the effect it gives off is very powerful and I am using this concept as part of my final product because I think that it will make my film better and I like the concept of it.

I enjoy looking at the moon because it is dark and clever. I like how a face is created to look like the protagonist (Jack) in the animated movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas. I think the positioning of the two bats are very cool, this picture is Halloween themed, which is dark,scary and unappealing. This is a good representation of what nightmares are about.

I admire this image because it’s very different. I like the colours used such as the grey and the white, also how the light contrasts the dark giving her a glow. I feel that this image is a great representation of nightmares, this is due the pessimistic colouring used and how the lighting conveys the women making the woman seem demonic.

The nightmare in this composition has a creature in it, the creature is dark and unique. His master, who is a woman, controls the creature. In the composition, the creature is seen to hover over the child in the bed, which means they are overpowering. I could do something like this in my final project and even if I don’t use it, I still think this picture is a great example of nightmares.

I like this composition because of the pain and suffering it portrays, using the colour red that symbolises danger and anger etc. Furthermore, the emotion that he has on his face makes the picture more effective, evoking sympathy and sadness in the audience. I think this picture is an amazing example for something that would appear in a nightmare or could be linked to the theme of nightmares. The facial expression could be used in my short film.

I like this composition a lot, the first thing is the eyes and how they express 90% of the emotion in this picture, The other 10% is covered by the background features such as the hands and what’s behind him.
The second thing is that I enjoy looking at the grittiness of the person’s hands over his mouth, also the accessories (jewellery) and the tattoos as well. In this picture it creates a war like feeling and shows how he is trapped, a prisoner that can’t talk. I am definitely going to find a way to implement this theme into my project.
Locations
Locations for my final idea
Work/College
These are locations I might use for the college/office scene of my project.
I like this location because the decorum is very messy and filled with piles of work, which makes the scene more realistic. In addition, it is an actual office for staff, which is good and hopefully should be able to incorporate into my film.
I like the college setting because I think that people can relate that college is stressful and tiring. In addition, it is easier to film because the office might be busy and unavailable to use.
Toliet
The toilet on the third floor inside the college is where I can film, I was informed that hardly anyone goes into that toilet, which is good for me.
This is the scene were her friend would give the main character the potion, this scene gives the feeling that the potion may be illegal or dodgy. There are no cameras in the girls toilet so it is more inclusive.
House
The house scene is located inside the college.
I am going to be using the couch as a sleeping place for my main character because it will be easier to film there rather than the actresses house. This is because I’m not sure if she will feel comfortable, but I can always ask her.
Field

For the first scene I would like to have an open field, where my character is able to run and spin, smelling flowers etc. This picture is what my idea of the field would look like, that’s why it is displayed, however, I need to find a field like this.
After I have found the location, I was going to put a pink filter over it, this is shown in the picture above what my scene is going to look like.

Hey Hey! that photograph/location would fit in so well with your story! it would give a magical feel to the scene and it links to the fact that she drinks a magical potion to fall sleep. Well I think the light pink and blue of the sky make it look quite calm and relaxing and the pink filter makes the whole scene feel like a bit of a day dream. Like a memory of a hot summer day, perhaps a childhood memory of growing up in the countryside. – Cicely

After looking at all of these responses, it has useful to productive and I will take all of their opinions into consideration, when I am doing the scene using this effect. I really like Cicely’s feedback, it gives me an idea on her back story and why she may have dreamt up this specific location.
Barnet
A friend suggest Barnet as a good location to get the look that I want.
To get to the location I want, I have to take the Northern Line from St Pancras station and get off at High Barnet. Then I have to get on the 251 bus, this route will take me 42 mins to get there. This is useful for when I start filming.
This location was in Whitings Hill Open Space in Barnet, the video above is my feedback on it.
Hampstead Heath
Another location that can use for this scene is Hampstead Heath. Also, it is nearer the Quinta Drive so it is shorter and easier to get there (travel).
From the college (Bus Stop HF) you have to take the bus 46 towards Lancaster Gate and then get off at Hampstead Heath.
When you get off the bus you have to walk past Hampstead Heath Station and then you will see the park in front of you.
The location looked very good. The scenery was something that I would consider or choose as a location. There were no building behind the trees,which I was hopefully for and I was sunny, that’s another detail that I had hoped for.
Chicken and Chips shop
The chip shop called Supreme has let me record a scene for my project.
I like the location because when you are in a dream with a crush you would not think that someone would have dreamt up a chicken and chips shop to go on a date. Personally, I would have dreamt up a fancy restaurant. This will make the audience question why she would choose a fast food shop of all places that could be available to her.
Green Screen
This is the location of where I am going to shoot all of my nightmare scenes.
For instance, the eye sequence, the puppeteer scene and the falling scene. The reason or this location is because the green screen creates a specific effect, which is to black out the background and keep the subject clear, so that the subject can be put in front of any background. and that is what I need. Also, the part were she gets up from the grass and starts to run.

Dream Potion/Potion Bottle
This is a potion bottle that I had found on Google, I like he shape of this potion bottle and the colour. Also, the size of the bottle is perfect, I will consider using the colour for my project.

I like the design of the bottle, the colours and light make the bottle look magical and the label for the bottle. I could use this design for my own project.

I like the shape of this bottle, it is very plump, as well as the charm hanging from it, which makes it look mystical and magical.

I like the label for this dreams potion, i may make a similar label for my bottle as part of my final ideaproject. Also, I like the book because stories symbolise dreams.

I like these types of potion bottles because, they look really medieval and with-like. I think I will use a potion bottle that is in this picture.
Saler
After typing into the search engine ‘potion bottles in store near’ I came across a website called thevikingstore.co.uk, the store is located in Walthamstow, which is not that far to get to.
The bottle is only 2.90 it is kind of cheap and I think I only need two for my dreams project.
Potion Substance
Once I had found the potion bottles to use, I needed to make the potion that goes inside the bottle and it has to be edible for the actor to able to drink it. I researched online on how to make potions, which are edible and found a youtuber that knew how to make edible potion, so I watched it. I like the ideas that was presented to me and I will use the information I have just found into my final project.

After looking at the tutorial I have decided to use a bubble gum drink as the substance inside the potion bottle.
I have chosen this product because it looks realistic in the potion bottle, also, it was a can so I keep refilling the bottle over and over again. In addition, it tastes very nice to the actor and will have no negative effect on her.
Casting
Poster
This is the poster I used to recruit suitable actors to be in my Short Film. It tells the actors what days I need them for and how many people I need e.g the main character, the best friend etc. I tried to make the poster clear and professional, which I think I did a good job at doing.
This is the Short Film, scene by scene
This scene by scene document will be used to inform the actors as to what each of the scenes is about. This is beneficial to me and to the actors because then they will be able to get into character more. In addition, it helps improve my organisation and time management skills. Also, this document will act as a guide or point of reference to actors, in case they need more clarification on certain parts.

After looking over all of the audition, this is my cast list. The cast list shows all of the actors chosen and what parts they have to play in my short film.

I have auditioned 6 individuals for different roles.
Theses videos are focused on the crush as a character in the short film.
They were both amazing actors however, only one person can get the role. They are both great actors, however, I feel that Carlos Santos was better suited for the role of Luis.
Jerome Gapas
Jerome was a fantastic actor, I like the way he was so happy to see his ex girlfriend and the way he grabs her face was really good. However, he has too much of a baby face. Disappointingly, there is only one crush so I had to give the role to Carlos.
Carlos Santos
I like Carlos’s enthusiasm when he was in character (as well as his tone of voice) and the way he ditched his date was funny but sad. Also, he has a more of a mature face compared to Jerome which makes him good for the role as the crush.
Theses videos (auditions) are based on the main character (Tanya).
I struggled picking the main character because they were all great actors.
Isabella Clark
I liked Isabella’s acting however, the decision was between Sharday and her, unfortunately, she didn’t get the main role however, I thought that she would fit well as the crushes ex-girlfriend so that will be her role, the ex-girlfriend.
Sharday Barrowes
I really liked all of the actors however, I like Sharday’s acting the best; more specifically her facial expressions, they were amazing and that’s why I picked her. Hopefully this decision I have made will pay off because I want my short film to be great.
Odinelsa Mendes
Although she didn’t get the part of the main character, she has the role of the bully.
Mara Simeo
Mara had auditioned for the main character, she was really good, however, she didn’t get the part so I thought she would be good as the best friend; Sharday and her look like best friends anyway, which made it 10 times easier to cast her.
I didn’t cast voice overs because anyone can do the voice over for the scene that needs it. Also, I didn’t do a script for my Short film so all of the dialogue is improvised.
