Casting

Poster

Cast needed copy

This poster was used to advertise my casting process. It informs the actors how many people I need and whether they are female or male as well as telling them how to contact me if they have any queries about my episode or the auditioning process. I think it is clear and stands out which, draws people towards it. I did this poster using Photoshop and the Lobster font.

Scene by Scene

ScenebyScene play-page-001 ScenebyScene play-page-002

This is a scene by scene play list of my pilot, it is also the storyline. I will use this to highlight the scene that I have done and look at the scenes that I need to do.  I did this list using Microsoft word and printed it using the library.

Auditions

Chosen part from the script that I had used to audition the males.

selected part - for male

The reason I have chosen this part of my script was so that I could get a taste of their acting abilities as well as it having a lot of lines to act off. As you can see I had highlight the parts that the actors had to do, which made it easier for them. Furthermore, when each actor would do their part me or Maria would say the other parts so that the actors did not get confused.

Jerome

Jerome is a seventeen year old male, who does drama in the college. I liked the sarcastic tone had he had used and the way he uses the space. In addition to that I had liked how he followed the directions really well which were on the script as well as the facial expressions portrayed. Overall, he did he fantastic audition.

Kas

I liked the accent Kas has added as well as the tone of voice that he used to say his lines. Also, he followed the directions really well and used the space around him. I liked he way acted drunk when he punches the ground but when he gets up he is still in his drunken state. Kas’s Audition was great I was really impressed.

Ryan

I think that he acted great being drunk, also, he looks like what I had envisioned Tyler being like. Furthermore, I like the sarcastic tone that he had used and the way he used his body. The only downside is that he did  not do all of the directions shown on the script. Overall Ryan did a pretty good job.

Dedan

After looking back at Dedan’s audition, I liked how he had taken a drink of the alcohol and when he walked away. However, the were some faults for example, he said the lines wrong and the did not use his body as well as being quite shy. In the scene he did Tyler is supposed to be drunk and angry at the least and that was not seen in Dedan’s audition, plus he did not follow the direction shown on the script. Overall, it was okay but not to the standard I would have liked.

Louie

I liked the tone of his tone of voice and when he acted drunk I thought it was good however, I did not feel that he had put 100 percent into the audition. Overall, I think that the audition was okay but I think he could he done it better.

Seycan

I liked the end of Seycan’s audition was great. He followed the directions provided on the script, also I liked the facial expression he used as well as the way he used his body. However, he did not act drunk and he had kind of stayed in one place and one position most of the time. Overall, it was good but I did not feel engaged until the end and I feel that I should be engaged the whole way through.

Male Conclusion:

I think the auditions went really well, but there can on;y be a few males in my TV Pilot so these are the males I have chosen. I think Ryan’s audition was great, that is why I have decided to give him the lead role, which is Tyler. I think he will do a fantastic job.

Followed by Dedan, which has not been casted the role of Tyler,  but I am making him play the Therapist because I can imagine him as one if he just wear a suit and tie etc and slicks back his hair. Plus, he looks older than he is which is good.

Unsuccessfully, Louie did not get the main character Tyler, nonetheless I did cast him as Sam (the stranger he meet) which is still good. Last but not least, Kas and Seycan have not been casted as Tyler or any character in my TV Pilot but hopefully I will be able to use them in the future.

Chosen part from the script that I had used to audition the females.

selected part - for females selected part 2 - for females

The reason I have chosen and highlight this part of the script is because, it has a lot of dialogue. Also, it allows me to see the actors capabilities, which will help decide who I am going to pick for each part. Me or maria would read out the parts that are not been say so that the actors do not get confused.

Odinelsa

I like Odinelsa’s tone of voice and how she had used upper body (arms, hands etc). She had followed the directions really well as well as being soft and then angry which was good. The expressions that she had done were kind of plain apart from the end. Overall, it was a great audition.

Sharday

I like the expressions that she portrayed as well as the fact that she made use of her surrounding. When Sharday acted, it drew me in (engaged me) which is what I am looking for. Additionally, I liked the way she said her lines as well as following the direction shown on the script. The only negative opinion I have is that she had said a few words wrong but other than that, she was amazing.

Isabella

Overall, I loved Isabella’s acting, it evoked an emotion of sympathy for her, her tone of voice was great and the way she moved her body instead being stiff. I really enjoyed watching the audition back.

Lucy

Firstly, I do not think that she give a hundred percent into the audition and she was easily distracted by people in the room. Secondly, she did not move, she just stayed in one place and one position and only moved her body a bit (such as hand gestures). I feel like she could have done better if people were not in the room, however, if she gets the role she’s going to have to act in front of many people. She has the look and the attitude but she did not portray it in the audition but overall she was okay but she could have done better.

Rose

I like Rose’s tone of voice, however, based on the audition she is soft and sweet rather than angry and fierce. Also, she had stumbled and got some lines wrong and she read the stage directions, which was funny but not part of the dialogue. In addition, I like and respect the fact that she carried on even though she messed up. Overall, the audition was alright but not what I am looking for

Stephanie

I like the way Stephanie uses her voice when had said her lines and her facial expressions which makes her look tough. I liked her acting and the audition. Overall, Stephanie’s audition was great.

For Mara’s audition I had given her the script however, I had highlighted Leanne’s parts and not Lexi’s, so she auditioned as the role of Leanne instead of Lexi.

Mara

I like how Mara used her voice as she read her lines and the expressions on her face. Also, I had liked how she switched from being protected towards Lexi to sweet and concerned towards Tyler. Furthermore, I liked her energy, she kept me engaged throughout. Ultimately, I had absolutely loved Mara’s audition, she was fantastic.

Female conclusion:

After looking all the auditions and commenting on them. I have figured who is in my TV Pilot and who is not. Sharday’s went well she got the part and is playing the role of Lexi, I think she will do a great job at it and I just hope everything will go how I want it to go.

Odinelsa has not been given Lexi as a role but, she did get the Receptionist, also Isabella did not get the part she auditioned for however, I did cast her as Rose, who is Leanne’s friend in my TV Pilot. Lucy was not casted for any characters which is a shame but, hopefully I will be able to cast her in the future for something else.

Rose did not get casted as Lexi, but on a positive note, she did get casted as Tyler’s mother, Olivia. Then there is Stephanie, great actor but did not get the part she audition for, she did get the role of Sam’s Girlfriend in my TV Pilot. Finally, I have chosen Mara to be Leanne, I think she will be great.

Overall conclusion:

I think all of the actors were fantastic but there are a limited amount of character so not everyone got a part in my TV Pilot.

I liked the way everyone person who auditioned said their lines and there are many more positive features than negative ones. Those are the people I have casted for my TV Pilot.

Cast List

Cast List (fmp)

This is my cast list showing the actors I have chosen for my TV pilot as well as the character that they are acting as. I had decided to do cast list because it is neat and clear to read. Also, it is good for me because I have a copy of my own reminding me of the actors I have chosen, not that I would forget but its good to be overly prepared then under prepared.

When distributing my script to each actor, I had put each script in a cellophane envelope so that it doesn’t get lost and I think that presentation is a key factor of professionalism. Furthermore, it is easier it give out because it could get muddled up.

Updated Cast List

Updated Cast List

This is my updated cast list. The reason why I have an updated cast list is because one of my actors are busy, one is unreliable and the other can not film at night, my three characters explanation I understand because she lives far and my main actor (Ryan) is busy with studies, which is also understandable.

Final Updated Cast List

Cast List3 (fmp)

This is the final change to the cast list. It is pretty much the same except Sam and Sam’s girlfriend is removed and Bystander is added. The Bystander is Karim and the Reception is myself, which is a voice over. This is explained in my diary.
